Camas Meadows is above the foggy weather!!
Camas Meadows is above the foggy weather!!
We have been running up to the meadow to get the cabin ready for winter and also to get above the fog that forms in the Wenatchee Valley this time of year.
Yesterday, we went up to Camas for the first snowstorm of the season. We awoke to a skiff of snow and blue sunny skies. It was great to be above the grey skies below, but we were looking forward to the first big snow at Camas. Currently, we just have a few inches on the ground.
The other reason for heading up to Camas was the total lunar eclipse on Saturday morning. This was a great eclipse since totality started at 6:00 am. This is a rather civilized time for an astronomical event! It was a good eclipse not as dark as the blood red eclipse of 1979. Here is the view of the eclipse taken from the deck as the moon set in the west. The moon was just far enough north that the peaks of the Enchantments were to the south. The moon and trees will have to do for this eclipse. One of these days we may be blessed with the eclipsed moon setting over the mountain peaks.
So if your looking for sunny skies in December there is a good chance that you will find them at Camas Meadows. However, we would still like to see a good snowfall to get winter started on the right note.
