Christmas at Camas

The Christmas season has arrived at Camas. It came complete with a large snowfall and a gorgeous Christmas Tree. Our Christmas trees are found growing naturally in the forest. We usually start picking out our tree in October. After Thanksgiving weekend the tree is put up and the Christmas season is in full swing.

Christmas, however, is not complete without snow. Camas is located at 3000 foot elevation so almost all our Christmas's are white. In the ten years we have owned the cabin, we have had a white Christmas all but one.

This year we had a substantial winter storm drop lots of snow the first weekend in December. The three feet of snow was quickly followed by a day of rain!! This is great news for skiing and snowshoeing the meadow. The rain packed the snow down to provide a firm base for skiing.

The forecast is for another storm this weekend that should put a powder snow on top of the base. This makes for fantastic x-country skiing.

This is a photo from last week as the storm was clearing. After the storms move on we are usually blessed with brilliant white snow reflecting the sun and blue skies.

Our first openings now start on the weekend of Jan.5th. We are booked Martin Luther Kings weekend.
